River Hongbao

It's my first experience of the Chinese New Year in Singapore and for this year, the 2-day holiday fell on a Monday and Tuesday. Long weekend lah! :)

We started the holidays on Saturday by going to the River Hongbao at the Marina Bay Floating Platform. It's a cultural event that has been taking place in Singapore every Chinese New Year since 1987.

The place was filled with large-scale lanterns featuring the God of Fortune, Chinese temples, a gigantic Chinese chess set, the 12 Chinese Zodiac Animals, and many more. There was also the traditional Lion Dance, pyrotechnic display, and performances on stage by HuBei Art College and the Nanjing Acrobatic Troupe titled "Ethnic Dance and Acrobatics Spectacular".

Look out for the lions!

Year of the Ox. Hinaot ang tuig kay oks na oks!

We just had to pose with our Chinese Zodiacs.

Great performances!

Tonight will be the eve of the Chinese New Year. I can't wait to go to Chinatown! :)
